Conversational English Classes For Adults
It seems like most people enjoy it when someone asks their opinion about an important issue. If they ask you in English, however, and English isn't your native language, then answering the question might be very stressful.

What is a Sunday morning talk show, and how will it help me improve my English?
A Sunday morning talk show is a television program with a news/talk/public affairs–hybrid format that is broadcast on Sunday mornings. This type of program originated in the United States, and has since been used in other countries. They feature round-table discussions in a multiple-topic debate format involving the moderator and a panel of (usually between four and six) guests.
Although, these programs focus on controversial political and sociopolitical topics (including discussions on public policy, national security, the economy and world events such as geopolitical and military conflicts); we'll discuss less controversial subjects that won't offend anyone.
The point is to practice expressing your opinion in front of a group in a convincing way. I want these conversations in English to help you learn to think in English, and answer spontaneously.
What kind of topics will we discuss in this conversation English class?
I'll mostly find the questions from IELTS Speaking & Writing, so they are interesting and conversational, but aren't going to start arguments. For example...
Nowadays, an increasing number of people with health problems are using alternative medicines and treatments instead of visiting their normal doctor. Do you think this is a positive or negative development?
Shops should not be allowed to sell any food or drinks that have been scientifically proven to be bad for people’s health. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
People living in the 21st century have a better life quality than people who lived in previous times. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is important for people to take risks, in both their professional lives and personal lives. Do the advantages of taking these risks outweigh the disadvantages?
Describe a time when someone gave you positive advice on your work. You should say: when it happened, who the person is, how the advice affect you, and explain how you felt about it.
Describe an ambition that you haven't achieved. You should say: what it is, why you haven't achieved it, what you have done, and explain how you feel about it.
How does your conversation in English class work?
The goal is to practice speaking English spontaneously, so I don't want you to memorize an answer. We'll practice "off the cuff" speaking, which is an important skill to master. Speaking in this way is left out of many English language courses, so I want to provide an interesting and challenging option for advanced learners to continue perfecting their English.
I'll act as the moderator and you are a panel member.
I'll send you one question before class so you can prepare an outline for a 2-minute talk. Don't prepare a speech and try to memorize it, however, because that will waste your time and defeat the purpose.
I'll give everyone detailed corrections so everybody learns from each other's mistakes.
I'll answer too, and teach you to use phrasal verbs the way native speakers do, current English idioms & expressions, and how to answer the question more like a native speaker.
Next, I'll give everyone at least two more questions to answer spontaneously during our online round-table discussion so you can practice the corrections I gave previously.
I'll send you supplemental materials for every class to help you improve.
Read the overview below for more info about how it works and what you'll learn. Then, I invite you to make an appointment with me to talk about your goals for 15 minutes. We'll have a mini-lesson and discuss your unique needs, then get you into one of the discussion groups.
There are English conversation classes near me, why should I join this one?
My "Meet The Press-style" online English conversation class is designed for advanced learners to have a life/career-enriching experience. I'll only accept motivated and committed learners who are eager to express themselves. In fact, you have to take this level test and get at least CEFR B2 to join because I want to bring together people who are committed to learning English and always eager to improve. I want people who have already benefited from their English proficiency and understand the value of always learning more and perfecting their spoken English.
Furthermore, learning to express yourself in this way is important for career success and one's social life. For example, I teach many adult professionals who want to immigrate to North America or the UK. In order to make friends and be seen as a trusted member of a team at work, being able to express your opinion about normal conversation topics is vital. Although an IT professional, for instance, might never have to answer a question exactly like this in a work meeting, the experience carries over. When you can express yourself fluently, confidently, and convincingly on common issues; you'll be able to stand up in a work meeting and defend your ideas in a persuasive, positive and self-assured way as you learn to communicate more like a native speaker.
So, if you would love to improve your English communication efficiency and use words more accurately, concisely, and colorfully, in varied sentence structures and feel free when speaking English, and be able to give influential and powerful speeches...these English conversation classes will help you achieve those goals.
Who knows, one day, you might even be better at communicating in English than most native speakers.
